I agree. Copying a poem ends up being a conversation (like, "where'd you get that cherry red sweater? What cherry red things do I have in my life right now?") and so poetry helps me see my life and consequently write about it.
I'm really enjoying painting. I just bought some dollar paints and paintbrushes at the grocery store, and found a watercoloring "how to" bargain book.
I think I'd say that it is fear that I won't get the story. Or I won't have the time to write. I'm not afraid of the work, or sending the work out. But I do get afraid when I start to think I don't have time to do the writing.
I want a cherry red sweater to shake into.
Yes, I get writer's block. It usually happens when I'm afraid. I'll go for a run, copy and journal about a poem, and lately, I've been painting.
Can just *see* you with a cherry sweater! :)
Totally love this observation and the ways you approach the block. Copying takes the pressure off, but gets us into the rhythm of creative words, yes?
Painting! How fabulous.

Oh! (Wishing for a cherry red conversation from you now. :) Maybe with a painting to go with, if the cherries are feeling painterly. :)
Hmmmmm....I may have to oblige!
❤️❤️❤️!
Also, does the fear tend to focus in one particular way? Or is it just generalized fear of anything?
